Two Unexpected Eats You Can’t Miss at Muir Woods Cafe

Thousands of visitors show up every day to explore the 2,000 year old towering Redwoods of Muir Woods National Monument. But how many of them think to visit the cafe?

The National Park Service doesn’t necessarily  have a reputation for featuring local produce in their cafes. But, after eating these two must-have dishes at the Muir Woods Trading Co. Cafe — maybe they should!

Marin Melt Grilled Cheese

Food Network’s “The Best Thing I Ever Ate” has made this grilled cheese, easily, the standout dish at the Muir Woods Cafe — check out the video here!

Everything about this grilled cheese is local. Starting with bread made in Marin County (thanks, Rustic Bakery). And ending with a double dose of local cheeses. The Marin Melt at the Muir Woods Cafe is one part Cowgirl Creamery‘s signature brie-like cheese, Mt. Tam  (named after the mountain where Muir Woods resides) and equal parts award winning Toma cheese from Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Co.

PRO TIP: There’s a regular old grilled cheese sandwich also on the menu — be sure to order the Marin Melt specifically!

Three Twins Ice Cream

Okay. First off, how in the world do you get three twins? Wouldn’t that just be triplets???

Three twins is what happens when twin brothers go into business with their wife, who is also a twin.

Why should you get pre-packaged ice cream from a park cafe? They’re only THE VERY FIRST organic ice cream chain in the country! Ingredients are always minimal, organic and tasty.
