FAQS AND TOUR DETAILS
What makes this different from other tours?
The Lombard Leap isn’t just another city tour—it’s San Francisco’s #1 adventure! You’ll see more in 90 minutes than most tours cover all day, with a fun, small-group atmosphere and a guide who’s both informative and entertaining. This tour is about laughter, stories, and those unforgettable photo moments.
What’s the difference between The Lombard Leap and The Famous Tour with Muir Woods?
Both tours showcase San Francisco’s best sights, but the main difference is time and depth.
The Lombard Leap is a shorter 90-minute open-air adventure that focuses entirely on the city itself — driving down Lombard Street, visiting iconic spots like the Golden Gate Bridge, Palace of Fine Arts, and Coit Tower, and exploring several neighborhoods in a fun, small-group format. It’s perfect if you’re short on time, want an energetic overview, or prefer an open-air vehicle experience.
The Famous Tour with Muir Woods, on the other hand, is a 6-hour experience that combines the best of the city plus a scenic drive across the Golden Gate Bridge to visit the towering redwoods of Muir Woods National Monument and enjoy a relaxing lunch stop in Sausalito. It’s ideal if you want a full-day adventure that includes both urban highlights and natural beauty.
In short:
- Lombard Leap: 90 minutes, all city, open-air, fast and fun.
- Famous with Muir Woods: 6 hours, city + nature, includes Muir Woods and Sausalito lunch stop.
- Get the best of both worlds and add on our Mini Lombard Leap (Lombard St and Coit Tower) for just $10 per person to your Famous with Muir Woods*
How long is the tour?
The Lombard Leap is a 90-minute adventure through San Francisco’s most iconic neighborhoods and viewpoints. That’s just enough time to see all the highlights—without the long day commitment! Optional add-ons, such as Alcatraz or Muir Woods, can extend your experience into a full-day adventure.
Where do we meet?
All tours depart from Dylan’s Tours at 782 Columbus Avenue in Little Italy / North Beach, one of the city’s most vibrant neighborhoods. Please arrive 10–15 minutes before your scheduled departure to check in and meet your guide. We recommend using rideshare or public transit as parking can be limited in the area.
What should I wear?
Dress in layers, it’s the San Francisco way! The city can go from sunshine to fog in minutes, especially near the coast and the bridge. We recommend a light jacket, comfortable pants, and sunglasses. Our vehicles are open-air, so you’ll feel the refreshing Bay breeze (and sometimes the chill).
What happens if it rains?
We run rain or shine! San Francisco weather can be unpredictable, but we’re ready for it. Our open-air vehicles come equipped with clear rain covers to keep you dry while still letting you enjoy the views. Light rain gear and layers are always a good idea.
Can I add Alcatraz?
Absolutely! You can add Alcatraz during booking or after. Alcatraz often sells out weeks in advance, so we recommend booking early to guarantee your spot. We’ll help arrange the perfect ferry time.
Is the tour family-friendly?
Yes! Kids love the open-air ride, the twists of Lombard Street, and spotting famous filming locations from movies like Mrs. Doubtfire and The Rock. We welcome all ages, though children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Pricing: $69 adults (13+) / $49 children (12 and under).
Is the tour accessible?
Our open-air vehicles require a small step to board and are not equipped with wheelchair lifts. However, we do offer private options that can accommodate guests with accessibility needs. Please contact us before booking so we can help find the best solution for you.
Can we book a private version?
Definitely. Our Private Lombard Leap is a 2-hour customizable experience that includes everything on the regular tour plus extra time for photos, added stops like the Painted Ladies and Haight-Ashbury, and hotel pickup/drop-off anywhere in San Francisco. Perfect for families, corporate groups, or anyone wanting a personal experience.
Price: $550 (per vehicle, up to 7 guests)
Do you provide hotel pickup for the regular tour?
For our public 90 +-minute tours, pickup is not included, but our meeting point in Little Italy is easy to reach by rideshare, taxi, or public transit. If you prefer door-to-door convenience, our Private Tour option includes hotel pickup and drop-off anywhere in San Francisco.
Can locals enjoy this tour too?
Absolutely! Locals love seeing their city from a whole new perspective. Even longtime San Franciscans are surprised by the views, fun commentary, and behind-the-scenes stories our guides share. This is a BYOB experience so make sure to bring the fun with you as well.
Is tipping the guide expected?
Tips are not required but always appreciated! If your guide made your tour extra special (and we bet they will), a 15–20% gratuity is a great way to say thanks.
What movies will we see along the route?
We’ll pass filming locations from some of San Francisco’s most beloved films, including Mrs. Doubtfire, The Rock, Dirty Harry, Princess Diaries, Bullitt, Vertigo, Pacific Heights and more. Your guide will point them out and share fun behind-the-scenes stories along the way!
