What to Expect

We’ll meet you outside Fisherman’s Wharf at your chosen tour time. Our guide will be wearing a Dylan’s Tours shirt to help you spot them easily.

After a brief roll call, we’ll board the bus and travel to our first stop. Over the next 7 hours you’ll be treated to stories about the neighborhoods, diversity, and geography of the area. We will exit the bus at several stops for photo opportunities and exploration, enjoying lunch in Sausalito and then spending over an hour in beautiful Muir Woods Redwood National Monument (where we will have your reserved space all taken care of) .

At the end of our amazing adventure, we’ll drop you off at the same location where you boarded the bus. If you have any problems, just give us a call at (415) 932-6993.

Here are the places we will explore (photo stops noted by *):

Fisherman’s Wharf

One of San Francisco’s most popular destinations – from beautiful old shipyards, to Boudin’s Bakery and the smell of fresh clam chowder, Fisherman’s Wharf has it all.

Marin Headlands*

Offering a stunning perspective of the Golden Gate Bridge with downtown San Francisco in the background, this awe-inspiring view is the perfect place to capture a memorable photo.

Chinatown

Boasting the largest Chinatown in the United States, this 24-block mecca is bustling with energy, amazing food, and unique and colorful shops that give this area its charm.

North Beach – Little Italy

Voted as one of the USA’s “ten great neighborhoods”, North Beach is best known as the home of Little Italy. From delicious restaurants to authentic sidewalk cafes and bakeries, you will feel the charm of San Francisco as soon as you arrive.

City Hall

This beautiful Beaux-Arts monument epitomizes the high-minded American renaissance of the late 18th and early 19th century. The site of Joe Dimaggio and Marilyn Monroe’s marriage in 1954.

Twin Peaks*

Featuring a panoramic view of all of San Francisco, Twin Peaks offers ones of the best perspectives of the downtown skyline, surrounding hills and vistas (weather permitting).

Haight Ashbury*

The origin of the hippie culture and the birth place of the “Summer of Love.” From the stunning Painted Ladies to the homes of music’s favorite 60’s bands, this district started the counter-culture movement across the USA.

The Mission*

Known for its prominent and colorful mural installations, delicious food, and vibrant art and music scene, The Mission embodies the culture of old and new San Francisco.

The Castro

One of the most vibrant neighborhoods in the United States. Colorful bars and restaurants line the streets, with the historic Castro Theater overlooking the area that Harvey Milk once called home.

Sausalito*

Located just across the Golden Gate Bridge, this artistic enclave has the setting and beauty of a european mediterranean town.

Pacific Heights*

Offering one of the most scenic outlooks in all of Northern California, Pacific Heights is home to Billionaire’s Row, featuring the estates of politicians, tech titans and other San Francisco celebrities (includes Mrs. Doubtfire house!)

Presidio

Former military base, now a beautiful park that includes Crissy Field, Fort Point, Lucasfilm’s (George Lucas) headquarters and the Walt Disney Museum.

Golden Gate Bridge

Declared “one of the 10 wonders of the modern world,” the Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most recognized symbols of San Francisco. Simply stunning!

Muir Woods*

Muir Woods National Monument is home to some of the oldest and most beautiful trees in the world. Many of our guests consider this stop to be the highlight of their trip.

Fort Point*

Located just beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point gives you a front row seat to the Bay and is a great photo stop. This former military fortification was used during WWII.

Tenderloin

Nestled near downtown San Francisco, the Tenderloin neighborhood continues to resist gentrification, all while spearheading the local arts movement. It’s a must-see in our modern-day city.

Where To Meet

Have questions? Here are the most frequently asked.

Why Choose Dylan's Minibus Tours?

1. Small Groups:
With Dylan’s, you aren’t just a number. Our minibuses are the perfect size to make sure you are comfortable, well looked-after, and are having FUN!

2. Local Guides:
Each of our tour guides are Bay Area locals who love their city. From in-depth knowledge of SF to the best restaurant recommendations, they are energetic and invested in making each tour special.

3. Great Value
Our minibus tours are priced to give our guests a tour of the best neighborhoods in San Francisco and over an hour in Muir Woods. We like to think of it as 2 tours in 1!

4. 100% Refund Guarantee:
Change of plans? Feeling under the weather? We are happy to refund your entire tour with 24 hours advance notice.

5. Independently Owned:
We aren’t one of the big bus companies, and it shows. Dylan’s is owned and operated by San Francisco native Dylan David.

6. Your Experience is our Top Priority:
From our convenient meeting location to each stop on your tour, our goal is to make your tour fun and enjoyable. We have thought of the small things so you don’t have to.

Why is it beneficial to book directly on Dylanstours.com ?

1. Emailing or calling you directly to communicate our meeting location, last-minute details and tips about your tour. If you book with a 3rd party, we don’t receive your contact information and may not be able to get ahold of you.

2. Easy cancellations; when booking outside of our website it takes several days to get your money back to you should you need to cancel.

3. Dylan’s employees are here to help. When you book with us, on the web or over the phone, our team is here to help every step of the way – from hotel and restaurant recommendations to the best way to get to San Francisco from the airport.

4. The ability to keep our prices fair; when you book outside of our website we pay a 20% commission and therefore have to increase the cost of our tours.

Where does the minibus pick-up and drop-off?

Pick-ups:

Our minibus tours pick-up in a convenient location in Fisherman’s Wharf. Your confirmation and reminder emails will contain our exact address and best ways to get there.

Drop-offs:

Depending your tour we can drop you off in Fisherman’s Wharf, Lombard Street, North Beach, or Chinatown.

Why don’t you provide hotel pick-ups:

We would love to pick everyone up from their hotel, but we find that having one convenient pick-up location in Fisherman’s Wharf  improves the quality of the tour.

Picking up multiple individuals before starting the tour would not be a pleasant experience for any of our guests, and sitting in traffic is not something we want you to start your tour off with.

Is there a parking garage near the starting point:

Yes, there are several parking garages located near our meeting point.

Which minibus tour should I take?

City Highlight Tour + Muir Woods + Alcatraz (10 hours) – Our official Alcatraz Tour. In the morning, head up to Muir Woods to get your day started off with the beautiful redwoods. After coming back across the Golden Gate Bridge you will explore some of our favorite neighborhoods in San Francisco. You will then be dropped off near Pier 33 in the afternoon for the Alcatraz ferry and audio tour. We suggest this tour to those who only have one full day in the city.

What is Muir Woods and Sausalito?

Muir Woods:

Muir Woods National Monument is located 20 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge and is home to some of the oldest and tallest living trees in the world.

This popular destination is part of the United States National Park service and is considered to be one of the most peaceful destinations in the Bay Area. We consider it to be one of the top highlights of the Dylan’s Famous Tour + Muir Woods and our City Highlight Tour + Muir Woods + Alcatraz.

Sausalito:

Located just across the Golden Gate Bridge, this artistic enclave has the setting and beauty of a European, mediterranean town. For both our Dylan’s Famous and Dylan’s Famous Tour + Muir Woods, you will have the opportunity to enjoy your lunch on the picturesque waterfront, with views of the San Francisco Bay.

“The little mini buses are very comfortable and not very crowded so you still get a personal feel to the tour.”

JENNY TYLER FROM PETERSBURG, MI
