Early morning—ideally by 8–9 AM—is the quietest time, especially on weekends. Late afternoons are quieter too, but light inside the forest fades fast under the canopy.
RhonaKeymasterYes, the main boardwalk loop is flat and paved, perfect for strollers. Some side trails have stairs or dirt paths, so stick to the Redwood Creek Trail if you want to avoid rough terrain.
RhonaKeymasterMost visitors spend about 1.5 to 2 hours walking the main boardwalk loop and a few side trails. If you’re into hiking, you can easily spend 3–4 hours on the longer trails that connect to Mount Tamalpais or Dipsea.
RhonaKeymasterYes—Marin Headlands, Battery Spencer, and Hawk Hill are just a short drive or rideshare away and offer postcard views of the Golden Gate Bridge.
RhonaKeymasterIt’s a relaxed town with space to walk, calm water, and plenty of family-friendly dining. Kids will enjoy watching sea lions, getting ice cream, and exploring the docks and boats.
RhonaKeymasterLate morning to mid-afternoon is ideal. Mornings can be foggy, and the afternoon sun usually burns through by lunchtime. Sunset can be gorgeous if you plan to stay for dinner.
July 16, 2025 at 7:18 pm in reply to: What is there to do in Sausalito besides shopping and eating? #23166RhonaKeymasterYou can walk along the waterfront path, rent a kayak or paddleboard, visit the Bay Model, or check out the Marine Mammal Center just north of town. It’s also great for photography and casual people-watching.
July 16, 2025 at 7:15 pm in reply to: What’s the best way to get to Sausalito from San Francisco without a car? #23163RhonaKeymasterTake the ferry from either Pier 41 or the Ferry Building for a scenic ride across the Bay, or bike across the Golden Gate Bridge and ferry back. There’s also a Golden Gate Transit bus if you’re short on time.
July 16, 2025 at 7:14 pm in reply to: Is Sausalito worth visiting if I only have a few hours? #23161RhonaKeymasterYes, even 1–2 hours is enough to enjoy Sausalito’s waterfront views, grab a coffee or gelato, and browse a few shops or galleries. It’s a perfect add-on after visiting Muir Woods or biking across the Golden Gate Bridge.
RhonaKeymasterTechnically yes, but it’s not recommended due to the steepness, sharp turns, and heavy pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

July 12, 2025 at 7:24 pm in reply to: Is Lombard Street lit up at night and worth visiting after dark? #23154RhonaKeymasterIt’s not specially lit, but streetlights keep it visible. It’s quieter at night but less photogenic unless you’re going for night photography.
RhonaKeymasterYes, North Beach is nearby with plenty of Italian restaurants and cafes. Mama’s on Washington Square and Tony’s Pizza Napoletana are local favorites.

RhonaKeymasterYes, it’s open year-round, but it can get crowded in summer and during weekends. Early mornings are quieter no matter the season.
