Boudin Bakery at Fisherman’s Wharf is the classic choice, but locals often head to Fog Harbor Fish House or Sotto Mare for a fresher, less touristy bowl. Ask for it in a sourdough bread bowl for the full SF experience.

in reply to: Entry Fee To Muir Woods #23288

Here’s the latest on entry fees and reservations for Muir Woods National Monument:

It’s $15 per adult (16 and older), and kids 15 and under get in free. If you’re driving, you’ll also need to book a parking reservation in advance which costs $9.50 for a standard vehicle. If you’re taking the public Muir Woods Shuttle, that’s around $3.75 per adult round trip.

Keep in mind: the entrance fee and parking/shuttle are separate charges, and you need both. Even on free entrance days, you still have to reserve parking or shuttle in advance. Some annual passes (like the America the Beautiful pass) are accepted too.

in reply to: How To Get To Muir Woods #23287

There are a few main ways to get to Muir Woods, depending on your starting point and how much you want to drive or plan:

By Car: You can drive yourself, but parking reservations are required in advance at gomuirwoods.com. Parking is limited and fills up fast, especially on weekends.

By Tour Shuttle: Dylan’s Tours and other operators offer direct shuttles from San Francisco, which include your Muir Woods entry and parking—no stress, no planning. This is one of the easiest and most scenic options.

By Public Shuttle (Seasonal): From mid-spring through early fall, you can take the Marin Transit Muir Woods Shuttle from Sausalito, Marin City, or the Larkspur Ferry terminal. You’ll still need to reserve your shuttle and park entry in advance at gomuirwoods.com.

No Uber/Lyft Return Guarantee: Rideshare apps may take you there, but they often don’t come back due to poor cell service. Unless you arrange a round-trip ride ahead of time, you could be stuck without a return.
